Turrigenous - A Slight Amplification
Some time ago I received the EP of New York’s Turrigenous and for once it isn’t NYHC. These metalheads who formed a band in 2006 bring you progressive metal, which they themselves call dynamic metal. Immediately when I put this disc in my CD-player I was impressed by the music, the musicianship and the diversity. They draw their influences from a wide variety of bands, from The Beatles to Slayer and many progressive artists, and they prove that with this release.
The respectively 5, 7 and 6 minutes long songs differ a lot from each other and stay entertaining time after time. From the more technical and thrashy ‘A Slight Amplification’ to the more melodic ‘Emptiness, Darkness, Acceptance’ and the most catchiest of the all, ‘War Inside’, the band is good at every aspect. Also the vocals differ a lot. From melodic clean song lyrics to spoken words and death growls. These guys probably have everything, except for a big label backing them up.
I’m very curious if these guys could make a full-length that will be as impressing as this EP, but time will hopefully tell.
