When some "supergroup" is announced for the first time I'm always a bit suspicious. More supergroups have failed than survived through the years. One of the bands that did survive, and stood out, was the New Orleans based Down. As longtime friends and with a shared interest in bands like Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus and Trouble, Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Pepper Keenan (Corrosion Of Conformity), Kirk Windstein (Crowbar), Todd Strange (Crowbar) and Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod) formed the band Down back in 1991. In '95 they released their debut album NOLA and this record made a lasting impression on many sludge and just general heavy metal fans.
Nowadays they've released three full-lengths and two EPs, have gone through some line-up changes with the current line-up being founding members Anselmo, Keenan and Bower teaming up with Patrick Bruders (Goatwhore) on bass and Honky guitarist/Down's stage manager Bobby Landgraf on guitar and are on tour again this August.
Together with venue De Pul in Uden (The Netherlands) we can give away 2x2 tickets for the Down show at their place on August 6th. The only thing you'll have to do is answer the question below.
Who also played bass in Down, but is not mentioned in this article?
