Stick To Your Guns - Casey Lagos about being warped with a van
Orange County HC/MC collective Stick To Your Guns' Casey Lagos was nice enough to answer some of our retarded questions on the questionnaire we sent him. Here's what he had to say about his band, his love of music and the Vans Warped Tour that STYG played last summer:
Who are you?
Who are you?
‘My name is Casey Lagos, and I play with Stick To Your Guns (Alex Barnett, Reid Haymond, and Jesse Barnett). We like to have fun!’
If you had to compare your musical style to any other band, what would
it be?
‘I would compare it to Terror, As I Lay Dying, Comeback Kid, or Killswitch Engage.’
What instrument do you play (brand & type)?
‘I play drums, and I play Masters of Maple drums, and Vic Firth sticks.’
Tell us about writing and recording 'Comes From The Heart', did it turn out the way you wanted?
‘Well me and Jesse did all the writing and recorded it with the producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Terror) It came out better than we could ever imagine. We are still very happy with it.’
What was more important in the recording process: your (the band's) approval or a satisfied audience?
‘Bands approval most definitely!!!!’
You guys played the ever important 'Vans Warped' tour last summer with some amazing bands. You gotta have some cool stories right?
‘Well it was the best tour I have ever done! Definitely as hard as everyone says it is, you have to drive all night and wake up SO early everyday! We got to meet a lot of our favourite bands, and just being around everyone and the energy everyday was just awesome. We did it in a van, it was SO hard but well worth it!’
What steps in your career are you proud of?
‘I think just even getting out of a garage is a blessing and something to be proud of! Right now I am in a band room in Germany with some bands I grew up listening to, and just being here right now blows me away. I am very proud of what we have accomplished so far, cause it hasn't been easy.’
Weirdest thing on your tour rider?
‘We don't really have anything weird, if I could ask for anything it'd just to have good food, wi-fi, and my girlfriend, family and friends flown into every show. Haha.’
Name the single lamest record in your collection.
‘I don't think it's lame cause I like it, but most people would think it's lame who listen to my band.. but I love the rocket summer. He's awesome!’
When's your next gig and where?
‘Next gig is in Lidau, Germany!’
‘Anything to add or plug?’
‘Thank you so much for this opportunity, and we will be near you soon! Please pick up our new record Comes From The Heart, if you haven't already. Get it anyway you can, and the lyrics are online, so learn them and come sing along at a show near you!’
