The Black Dahlia Murder, Benighted, Resistance - A real fest during
Last year The Black Dahlia Murder released their latest record called Abysmal. A very good reason to do another European tour this year. They won't do this alone of course, they will bring Resistence and Benighted with them. While outside Dynamo a lot of people are dressing up and drinking a lot for Carnival, the real fest will begin inside here with these three bands.

Due to work I came in very late and sadly I missed Resistance completely and Benighted just started their set. It seemed that the crowd was warmed up already or really came here to see Benighted for once. While this really isn't my cup of tea, I really got excited during this set. The energy from the band is quite amazing and they were playing pretty tight also, but only drummer Kevin Foley seemed to make a few tiny mistakes. Nevertheless this was a great opener for me and also the number 'Slut' really showed that the band have a lot of power, but also seemed to enjoy this evening very well. Whle this deathgrind/death metal is quite something different compared to The Black Dahlia Murder's music, I don't think that the band could be any better support than this. Some people really didn't like it and walked out of the venue, but most of the crowd stayed inside, banged their head or joined the small moshpit. A really short  set but highly enjoyable support!

Then it was time for The Black Dahlia Murder already and while lead vocalist Trevor looked like he is gonna sell something to you or read out loud from the bible, he will scream and grunt impressively once again. The band started off with a new song called 'Receipt' and the crowd went insane. But when the song 'What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse' followed, it seemed that the crowd didn't really care if newer or older songs were played. Which was a very good thing since the band played at least one song of every of their seven records. It is amazing to see that Trevor can happily have a grin for 90 minutes of death metal on his face and trying to fire up the crowd with his fists up in the air. While the crowd kept moshing and banging their head, the band is playing phenomenal. The setlist follows with the songs 'On Stirring Seas Of Salted Blood', 'Threat Level No. 3', 'Vlad, Son Of The Dragon', 'Moonlight Equilibrium', 'Elder Misanthropy', 'Abysmal' and 'Funeral Thirst' and these songs just flew by due to the perfection of the performance.

Then it was time for my highlight of the evening 'Everything Went Black' followed by 'A Vulgar Picture'. Two of their best songs ever made and the crowd shared that opinion. Next up were the songs 'I'm Charming, Raped In Hatred By Vines Of Thorn', 'Miasma' and 'Statutory Ape' and the end of the setlist really came to a close and Trevor finally took his shirt off, which was quite late for his regular style. Sadly after 'Deathmask Divine' there was only one song left, which of course was I Will Return'.

These 90 minutes really flew by and after a nice warm-up from Benighted, The Black Dahlia Murder really showed that they are a true headliner. Wonderful evening with a lot of wonderful people, only the people outside celebrating "Carnival" are really weird to see after such a lovely but hateful evening!
