Dying Fetus, Skinless, Cattle Decapitation, War From A Harlots Mouth - Brutality at the Baroeg
Fans of brutal death metal can eat their hearts out at this little trek right here. Headliners Dying Fetus are here to support their new album entitled War Of Attrition, and they do this together with Skinless, Cattle Decapitation and War From A Harlots Mouth. Sounded like a whole bunch of slamming heads and breaking necks to Mat-Core and DemonDust, so of they went on another alcohol and THC drenched metal adventure.
This German band was unknown to me, but the name implicates some sort of mathcore stuff. The description of metalcore/grind kind of suited them, but this was performed on a high technical level. Also the usual humoristic factor was present in their stage performance, which is something very common when making extreme and crazy music. The problem with these bands is that if you don’t know them that well, it’s hard to get a grip on their music. I sure liked it, but I think it is a bit hard to follow for the average metalhead. I just might check their record out, sometime soon. (DemonDust)
This band surprised both of us, because of the bass player. Straight from da hood man! It is not common to see black people in extreme grindcore, but man he was hitting it hard. The band played several songs from Humanure, of which I recognized a few. The absolute most brutal part of the show were the new songs from the new album entitled Karma, Bloody Karma. These songs showed a more technical and brutal riffing, which made me and Demondust think of Cephalic Carnage. The show was played fast, with no unnecessary fish market babbling. Everybody in the band seemed quite fit and they were enjoying their performance, as well as the audience. I must confess that I find their albums a little bit boring. They sound brutal and all, but I can’t focus on their music. However, live they kicked enormous ass so I guess that counts! (Mat-Core)
Last time the guys from Skinless were here I had a blast at both their shows. This time was no different. From start to finish my hair was airborne, and I tried a little moshing even though I had a little hung-over. Classics from all four albums passed by, and vocalist Jason managed to get the crowd enthusiastic like he always does. Including a wall of death and a slow version of the wall of death; the zombie wall of death. These guys are hilarious. The performance was brutal, the sound was brutal, Skinless is fucking brutal and I fucking love it. One of the hardest hitting bands with a killer groove out there, I can’t wait until they release some new material. They closed their set with the legendary track ‘The Optimist’, brutalizing the crowd for the last time. Just fucking awesome! (DemonDust)
It has been a long time since I have last seen this band from the U.S. perform. I wasn’t exactly thrilled, because their shows tend to become boring after 6 or 7 songs. Tonight was different, but I partially blame it on Hertog Jan. However, my state of being allowed me to enjoy this brutal ear-pounding music. They played a lot of songs that sounded familiar to me, and some I remember. Songs like ‘Intentional Manslaughter’, ‘Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog’ and ‘Grotesque Impalement’ were fired at the crowd with immense brutality. The live show itself was quite nice, but no jumping and goofing around, just still statues stamping the fuck out of the Baroeg. You gotta like it! (Mat-Core)
