Housemaster - I Paron De Casa
Italy is a land that offers some amazing bands (well, for me in the extremely weird jazz scene that is). Housemaster hails from the boot-shaped nation and creates thrash metal with hints of death and classical heavy metal. Let’s see how their EP I Paroni De Casa works out.
To be honest, I freaking hate it. This is mainly caused by the poor quality of the recording and the drum skills of mister Giorgio Schirato, that dude can’t tell me he did everything as tight, good and original as could be. Also vocally I am not to impressed by the capabilities of Pierluigi Cavazzano. He does apply a lot of variety, going from deep vocals, to normal thrash screams to even some occasional high pitch ball-squeezing yells (check out the track ‘The Hero From The Sky’ to hear a hilarious stunt in this area). Also he sings in a couple of different languages; being English, Spanish, German and even Venetian. So he tries, but it all is not even in the area of amazing to me.
But the thing that shocked me most was of course the song ‘Der Governator’. You do not dis Arnold Schwarzenegger in music, not even for comedy purposes. Only I can do that. This song is obviously pointed at Arnold’s political career which I’ll briefly defend here. We all know the saying God works in mysterious ways; so does Arnold. That’s that.
Back to the music now. All I can say is that a lot of work needs to be done in the songwriting department to make me even enjoy Housemaster just a little bit. And start by changing your name. I don’t care if it’s the literal translation of paron de case, which actually means landlord and if you translate Housemaster back it probably would mean janitor. Too much useless information about a stupid name.
Oh yeah, this of course is all my opinion. Maybe you like every thrash metal band in the world and this is a worthy addition to your collection. But if so, see a shrink.
