Fusk - Few Successes Many Attempts
Another Dutch rock band felt like sending a demo to Metalrage. This time the band is Fusk. They started in 1996 with the name Spaanse Kraag but the name didnt fit the style of their music. Thats why the band changed their name to Fusk, short for Filed Under SK. The band describes their style as energetic, passionate and grooving guitar music. From extremely hard to intense soft. And after releasing 2 demo CDs, being on 2 collection CDs they presents the demo Few Successes Many Attempts. This is what I have to tell you about it.With the part about extremely hard I dont totally agree. The music is not extremely hard but its definitively good Rock music. The band claims to be inspired by a whole list of bands, from Incubus to Papa Roach and Glassjaw. The styles of these bands can found partially on the album. The seven songs on this demo are songs that are well formed with great guitar riffs and excellent vocals. What I like about Dutch bands is that the Dutch accent can be heard in the songs, I definitively like that but that doesnt count for everyone.
The song Borderline is the best track of this CD in my opinion. This song has a good intro, but the one thing I dont understand is the short break and a completely different rhythm after this intro. They should have mixed this together. The samples in this song are good and the variety between rhythms is used wisely.
The last track on the album is a remix called Trooper and made by Cru as the title tells us. I am always into remixes or different versions of songs. This one definitely got my attention. The person who did this knows how to use his equipment. The song got all great elements of a remix.
I can recommend this CD to al the Rock and Heavy Rock fans all over the world but they have to accept the Dutch accent that can be heard in some parts. Yes, not all the songs have this disadvantage but some parts do. Next to that the production of the album isnt always as good. But this CD will be their chance to get the success they asked for in the title of the album.
I think this band will rock live so if I get the chance, I will be there.
