Nifelheim - Envoy Of Satan
Bathory, Darkthrone, Venom, Celtic Frost, Mayhem.. Nifelheim.

Nifelheim, founded in Sweden in 1990, now released their 5th full-length album called Envoy Of Lucifer. Recently Darkthrone released their newest album F.O.A.D., and they showed it is still cool to play some nice old school black metal, nothing refreshing. Nifelheim thinks the same way: "Why change a winning formula?" or "Fuck you! We do what we want!". And they are right, this style still hasn't lost its charm. Simple riffs and old school lyrics about Satan, hell, damnation and that kind of shit. Of course, very clich, but sometimes clich is cool as well.

The songs are all up-tempo and are mainly based on thrash beats, you won't hear many blast beats. There is also enough variation between the songs to keep it interesting. And although the production sounds old school, it also sounds up to date. It is not a crusty record, it sounds quite clear, but it still has this 80s feeling. Well done.

Old school fans probably already bought this one, otherwise you definitely should buy Envoy Of Lucifer.
