Concept Of God - Visions
Concept Of God is a band/project that was already formed in 1999. It consists of members of Solitude Aeternus (Robert Lowe, Steve Moseley, James Martin) or past members of this band (John Covington). During the long break between the last two albums of Solitude Aeternus the ideas and songs for this project were written. But because of the activities of Solitude Aeternus it took the songs a while to see the light of day.

So what can someone expect of the voice of Doom (Robert Lowe rightfully deserves this nickname!) and co.? Doom metal of course, but not of the funeral kind, but the heavy metal kind. Concept Of God plays a style thats very reminiscent to Solitude Aeternus (not in the least because of Roberts voice) and also genre compadres like Krux and Candlemass.

Theres something that really have to get of my chest and thats that I cannot understand why Concept Of God get some flak from other magazines/e-zines. Okay, sometimes the compositions are a bit similar to above mentioned bands, but the musicianship and the songwriting is flawless! I really cannot find anything negative in their performance, but maybe a lack of originality.

Robert Lowes voice is a lust for the ear and also the other musicians handle their instruments like the pros they are. In nothing you can find lackluster elements that sometimes other projects have. These songs are certainly no leftovers of their other band(s)! An extra compliment I want to give for the excellent cover of the Rainbow masterpiece Man On The Silver Mountain. I think that this would even get the approval of Ritchie Blackmore.

I dont want to talk any further about this disc. Its just excellent music and definitely worth picking up if you like heavy though melodic metal. Just go to the store and hear for yourself.
