Iron Maiden - Somewhere Back in Time - The Best of: 1980-1989
Iron Maiden is currently touring the world with their special eighties show and reaching headlines everywhere. For the occasion they bought their own plane and dubbed it the Ed Force One. To coincide with the tour, Live After Death was finally released on DVD with a superb digital surround sound make over. Apparently that wasn’t enough, cause now they thought it was a good idea to release yet another compilation album. It claims to be the best of 1980 -1989, but how strange that there isn’t a single track on it with Paul Di’Anno on vocals. That era is actually covered by tracks from the Live After Death album.
What is there to say about this product? That it is cool to have yet again another product for Maiden fans to collect? The umpteenth disc with songs they already have for the seventh time of a seventh time? Is it possible that we are playing with madness over here? The answer to these questions is simple. Somewhere Back in Time is a completely redundant release. Yes, each track is a classic and they are all fabulous. It demonstrates that the best material was indeed released in the eighties. If you’re just interested in the artwork, I suggest to go to www.ironmaiden.com. Handing out a score is far from applicable for this release. Enough said.
