After three successful records, Divinefire has just released its last record. After four years it’s over for the band with (ex-)members of Narnia. Mastermind behind the band, vocalist Christian Liljegren, calls it a quit and therefore Divinefire says farewell to its fans with this new album, called Farewell, combining the best of previous three releases into 45 minutes of melodic extreme metal combined with symphonic hardrock/metal.
With Farewell, Divinefire succeeds to create a big bombastic sound with a lot of symphonic elements mixed with some (extreme) metal. On this album they received a lot of help from renowned names Mats Levén (Therion, Krux) and Carl Johan Grimmark (Narnia) and from Christian’s younger brother from Crimson Moonlight Hubertus Liljegren. Listening to Farewell, you can conclude that it’s a pitty Christian is going to give his body some rest, because he proves he has an amazing voice and a band member, Jani Stefanovic, who writes beautiful compositions.
The band varies the melodic death metal excellent with the symphonic power metal. Also the correlation between the growls and the clean vocals are great. This genre has lost a great band, but luckily enough they give the fans with Farewell a memorable farewell gift.
