Make Them Suffer - Severe Disease
Some time ago I received a package from the Metalrage HQ and Severe Disease was one of the CDs in it to review. Looking at the artwork and the way the name of the band is displayed you might think we’re dealing with some kind of grindcore or black metal band here, but in fact Make Them Suffer is a hardcore band from Holland. Currently they’re unsigned, but maybe this could change with the release of this EP.
Listening to the five songs on Severe Disease you immediately get dragged back to the mid 90s. Make Them Suffer’s old school sound is comparable with the early work of country mates No Turning Back and the intro and the vibe of the title song ‘Severe Disease’ reminds me of Merauder’s ‘Master Killer’. The old school sounding vocals aren’t my favorite, but that’s just a matter of taste I guess. All in all this is just a nice introduction to this young, energetic band. Hopefully they will get the opportunity to release a full length soon. Try to check them out when they play a club show near you and judge for yourself.
