Rising Tide - Burning Horizons
Sick and tired of hearing the same kind of music over and over again, five guys from the southern regions of Holland combined forces and formed the band Rising Tide. Since the formation of the band in 2005 they’ve released a full-length and a split-CD with Bloodtrial that were received pretty good by the press. Their metallic hardcore with heavy metal influences was described by the AsIce.net Hardcore E-zine as “Iron Maiden core” and ever since the band uses this discription to describe their sound.
Also on Burning Horizons you can call their music Maidencore. ‘Coldest Nights’ for example has a riff that almost sounds the same as the intro riff of Maiden’s ‘Wasted Years’ and there are some more references. All in all this is a good record that sounds very fresh and convincing, but it isn’t as innovative as I thought it would be. Maybe it’s just a little dip in their musical career and will they blast all the critics away with their next record. For now this release is definitely worth its money, but they aren’t the next big thing (yet!).
