Liftid - Our Choice Of Weapon
Lifted hails from the southern parts of Holland and has played a numerous shows in their eight years of existence. They have shared the stage with Clawfinger and Linea 77 and also played at the famous Pinkpop festival.
With this EP called Our Choice Of Weapon they deliver quite a fresh sound in the vein of The LostProphets. The poppy postcore is quite catchy and makes it pretty hard not to nod along during the songs. The first minutes of the album I have the idea of listening to a LostProphets clone but with ‘Tonight We Ride’ they finally convince me of their own sound. One of the main issues of linking them to the LostProphets are probably the clean vocals which are quite similar. With ‘Tonight We Ride’ we see a wide variety of influences but it’s still a great compact song that vary between the poppy hardcore, screamo and postcore. After this song it’s on with ‘Bravery’ which reminds me a bit of 36 Crazyfists but still has a face of its own.
Although the EP lasts for 12 minutes they do give a nice example of what we could expect of Liftid. And if you’d ask me, my guess is that we will hear more of them in the future. The melody, the screams, the chugging guitars and the total composition convince me and I have to say that I’m curious about their next full-length.
