Bleeding Through - This is Love, This is Murderous
Well, to start let me tell you what I know about Bleeding Through. To be honest nothing. When BoEk asked me to go to that show I said yes but I didn’t know what to expect. And this band already released 2 albums. The last one, “This is Love, This is Murderous” was send to me by Roadrunner Records because this band surprised me big time last Saturday. So I have listened to this album several times. Actually many, many, many times.
Bleeding Through consists out of members with Hardcore backgrounds. These influences can clearly be heard in their music. But the magic part this band brings with their music is mixing their roots with many styles of music. From Death Metal to Metal to some gothic kind of samples. The guitars are mainly Hardcore oriented, I could see this at the live show with their movements but you can clearly hear the Hardcore influences there. But every now and then they are implementing some metal riffs into their sound.
But in the background we have got the drums which are more in a Death Metal style. The blasting beats are just powerful and brilliant. During the live show she drew a lot of attention but keyboards and samples are provided by a beautiful lady called Marta. She brings the Gothic style into Bleeding Through and combining this all together with a bassist who has got great variations just completes the sound of the disc.
The only thing that’s left, are the vocals. Well, again nothing to complain. The range of styles are gigantic. From Hardcore to Death Metal to Clean to deep grunts. It seems everything is possible in this band.
Well, enough about the music. That is just great. Let’s have a look at the artwork. The front cover is a hart with a knife through it. Pretty sick if you ask me, but it seems that they feel ‘stabbed in the hart’. The rest of the cover is white. The booklet is filled up with blood, knifes, lyrics and band pictures. Let’s call it a disturbing scene for a booklet. But the simplicity makes it interesting.
It surprises me I have never heard of this band before. For me this is one of the best CDs I have heard lately. The mixing of styles and dedicated members is just a magical combination. If you get the chance try out this album, it is great. If you get the chance to see them live, don’t hesitate!
