Downthesun - Downthesun
downthesun's debut album kicks in like hell... Shawn Crahan's discovery (Slipknot, Clown #6) did a pretty good job on this one. This band has the potention to grow bigger, but misses just a little 'style of their own'. Some songs sound like they've been done before, which isn't necessary.
The two singers (Satone and Peltz) did a great job on the singing part, psycho screams, grunts and whispers and melodic singing as well on songs like 'Lucas Toole' and 'Eye Confide'. Those two are the most melodic songs, if you want more kicking you should listen to 'Medicated' , 'Pure American Filth'
and 'Scapegoat'.
The last song on the album, 'Revelations', lasts for about 15 minutes. That might sound a bit too Slipknot-'Iowa'-alike, but you are mistaken. This songs starts pretty psycho, but in the end it turns into a beautiful, chilled-down song. 'Revelations' is a great ending of a good album.
Sum up great riffs, good singing and bashing drum rhytms, and you good a good downthesun album, worth 4 out of 5 stars.
