Besides the above bands/albums honorable mentions for Earthless, Cult Of Luna and especially Monomyth. They just came short for my top 10, but definitely impressed with their selftitled debut record filled with spacy krautrock. Furthermore I still have to listen to a couple of records that were released this year, so I still haven’t an opinion about the new albums from the likes of Kylesa, the Dillinger Escape Plan, And So I Watch You From Afar and Intronaut amongst others.

As a part of Record Store Day 2013 the Roadburn Festival hosted an event with amongst others a mind-blowing performance John Baizley (Baroness) at the local record store Sounds. Back then I wrote this about it: “Last summer I saw Baroness just a couple of days before the tragic bus accident and it felt good to see him perform again. Together with Katie Jones, who backed him up with her beautiful voice and her violin, they played a varied set of (mainly) Townes van Zandt covers and Baroness material. Especially those Baroness songs in this fragile setting gave me goosebumps. Eventually they closed with an astonishing version of ‘Eula’. Baizley did put so much emotion in that song and everyone present was dead quiet and completely blown away by this amazing performance. After minutes of applause, which really seemed to touch him, he sincerely thanked everyone and left us still totally flabbergasted behind. Just goddamn awesome!
