Sziget 2005 - Hungarian music at the top
Once again Metalrage was present at the annual Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary. The festival takes place on a huge island in the Danube. With 60 stages and more than 1000 acts covering 7 days this may be the biggest festival in Europe. In 2005 Sziget has sold twice as many tickets abroad and with this result they sold out the weekly tickets for the first time in their history.
This fact was noticed by us on ‘day zero’ when we arrived at the entrance. We heard English, German, French and Dutch everywhere. It scared us to hear that many languages at the first day already. Last year we didn’t ran into this many foreign people and we thought there weren’t any native people with a weekly ticket. Luckily enough the local people could also buy daily tickets for the festival. But as we noticed this year the festival got too expensive for the local people.
After reaching the entrance Buzzin Hornet was stopped at the gate. His wristband was valid from the first day. After talking with the people from Sziget he received another wristband and he could enter the festival. We walked to the same spot we used last year and put up our tent for this week of partying.
